Who doesn't hate the time when it comes round to replacing inkjet ink cartridges? Naturally, when the time comes you try to extend its use until your printing is illegible. The main reason is because replacing ink cartridges is pricey.
Regardless of what model or make laser printer you buy, the ink is going to cost you a small fortune. You might be amazed to find that the actual price of printers is a lot less than you expected, even for big names such as Canon and Brother.
It does seem mightily strange to spend so much on inkjet ink cartridges having spent the fraction of the cost on a printer. Surely these companies aren't making any money from selling printers. Truth be told, a lot of the time they just break even, enough to cover manufacturing costs.
Only when replacement ink cartridges are sought after, then companies begin to make money. Printer companies realize that customers will need replacement ink and depend on this for profit. Unfortunately, the cost of printing can be astronomical for customers who have high printing needs.
There are however, a number of alternatives to cut down the cost of printing. Taking a little time to research different brands, models and ink cartridges may reveal which combination of ink and printer is the cheapest in the long term.
A popular option for cutting on printing costs is to use refill kits. It's possible to cut the expense of printing down by almost half by using refills. The only downsides are that you have to refill the cartridges yourself and it can be a little messy.
Most printer manufacturers don't produce refill kits since they want you to purchase new cartridges. If they were to save you more money they wouldn't make any money. There are however, ink manufacturing companies that produce ink refills for a number of ink brands. You can usually find the matching ink refill kit for your cartridge on a manufacturer's website.
Refilling ink cartridges doesn't really require any expertise but if you don't want the hassle then you could always take it to an ink refilling shop. Furthermore, there are companies that will accept and refill ink cartridges and return them to you.
Keep in mind that refill ink manufacturers may vary in quality. Choose one that has a good reputation and produces quality ink. Buying refurbished ink is also another solution to consider. This will also save you a substantial cost in printing. The quality of refurbished ink can vary from one manufacturer to another.
If you don't want to resort to imitations and still want to save money, you can buy brand name ink in high volume from a large seller. When large suppliers buy high volumes from manufacturers they often get a concession. Because of this they can provide consumers with better discounts.
Even if you get through inkjet ink cartridges at a moderate rate, ordering bulk orders is worth it. Brand name cartridges usually come packaged in sealed bags. This gives ink cartridges a long shelf life without affecting quality or performance. Additionally, large companies often do monthly offers to get you even more for your cash.
